Taxonomy Persceptives

HighClassify business taxonomies are organized around eight types of taxonomies or perspectives on content.

1. Industry Segments - a Marketing / Positioning / Competitive Intelligence perspective. Industry Segments may overlap with Products and Services.

2. Organizational Functions – the organization breakdown of a business or organization by function or responsibility

3. Business Relationships – the types of other companies or organizations a business deals with; can include customers, vendors, regulators etc.

4. Geography (F) – countries, international organizations, regions, states, cities, postal codes, etc.

5. Business Issues & Events – economic, legal, merger and acquisition, regulatory, environmental, safety, other government interfaces, etc.

6. Products & Services – products sold, MRO materials, indirect services, direct materials and services purchased

7. Technologies – applicable to the industry or industries in which the firm or organization participates. Basic or applied sciences are also included, as appropriate.

8. Document or Record Types (F) – This perspective provides valuable reduction of results based upon the document’s purpose and its connection to the information need.

*The perspectives marked with (F) are filtering perspectives and are expected to be used only in conjunction with classifications from at least one other perspective.

Every classification in every perspective may be combined with any other classification in the classification or look-up processes. A classification may appear in a taxonomy multiple times, to enable various perspectives and browsing habits to be supported.
